This policy lists the social media through which the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) engages with members of the public, what information you can expect to receive and how we interact using these platforms.

Purpose

The CRU uses social media to:

  • build awareness of rights and increase use of services available to energy and water customers, and

Our use of social media is not intended as a means of contacting the CRU or for submitting media queries.

Availability

The CRU updates and monitors social media accounts Monday-Friday during normal office hours.

The CRU does not accept any responsibility for lack of service due to downtime of any social media platforms.

Staffing and responses to posts

The CRU’s social media accounts are managed by the CRU’s Communications function. Content and any responses are posted by staff of the CRU and authorised third parties.

If queries are posted that relate to complex policy information or technical details that cannot be answered in a short format, we may direct you to a document or page on our website or to contact a particular team in the CRU.

You can also contact the CRU directly through any of the contact details listed on this website.

Following and Re-Posting Content

The CRU may follow other accounts on social media. This does not imply endorsement by the CRU of any kind. Similarly, any content we re-post/re-tweet does not imply any endorsement of the message posts or individual or organisation who posted it.
