The Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) has today, 17th April 2018 published a letter confirming its designation as the Competent Authority responsible for the implementation of the measures set out in Regulation (EU) 2017/1938.
Regulation (EU) 994/2010 (now repealed) was introduced to safeguard security of natural gas supply and since its adoption has been a key driver in facilitating cooperation between Member States in regard to measures to safeguard the security of gas supply. The CRU was the designated Competent Authority responsible for the implementation of the measures set out in Regulation (EU) 994/2010.
Regulation (EU) 994/2010 was repealed in November 2017 and replaced with Regulation (EU) 2017/1938. CRU continues to be the Competent Authority for the purposes of the new Regulation and has been designated as such by the Department of Communications, Climate Action, & Environment (DCCAE).
