Review of the Supplier of Last Resort Framework Consultation
The CRU has published a consultation paper on the Review of the Supplier of Last Resort Framework.

The consultation can be found here.
The SoLR process forms part of the CRU’s customer protection framework. The main purpose of the process is to ensure that if an electricity or gas supplier leaves the retail market, a customer’s supply will continue without interruption. In 2022 three suppliers exited the market under the SoLR process. On foot of these events and in the interest of better outcomes for customers the CRU undertook a review of the SoLR Framework. The primary focus was to review the current framework against learnings and determine what changes were needed to efficiently manage any potential future SoLR events.
The CRU is proposing in this consultation a number of changes that could be made under the existing SoLR framework. These proposals are intended to provide further protections to customers that find themselves in SoLR events, as well as new measures for suppliers to adhere to that will help to avoid SoLR events in the first instance.
Responses should be submitted via the consultation platform by the close of business on Thursday, 10th July 2025.
