Gas works in your home
It’s a legal requirement to employ a Registered Gas Installer (RGI) to install or work on gas appliances in your home.
Why to use a Registered Gas Installer (RGI)?
Using an RGI gives you the assurance that the contractor you employ has a GID (Gas Installer Domestic) qualification or equivalent in gas safety, and that they are appropriately insured. Any RGI will also be able to supply you with the relevant official Certificate after they have completed their work.
How will I know if a contractor is an RGI?
All RGIs carry an official ID card that is renewed on a yearly basis. This card displays the RGI’s unique ID number, as well as their photo, the current year, and a QR code that links to the RGI website, set against a blue and white background.
Always use a Registered Gas Installer (RGI)
By law, you must use an RGI to carry out any works related to gas or gas appliances.
How can I find an RGI?
You can find an RGI by using the RGI website. You can also use the site to contact Safe Energy Ireland to check whether a particular contractor is legally registered, to report an illegal gas installer, or to make a complaint against an RGI.
