Water Connection Charging Policy

The CRU today, 11th November 2021, published an Information Note regarding Irish Water’s progress on self-lay in the public road. Self-lay in the public road refers to the installation of water and wastewater infrastructure outside the boundary of a development. This Information Note is relevant to any person carrying out new water and wastewater connections and who wishes to install water and wastewater infrastructure in the public road.

The Information Note provides updates on:

  • A pilot project Irish Water is currently running on self-lay in the public road.
  • Criteria that one must meet to take part in the pilot.
  • Date for establishment of an Experienced Based Accreditation Scheme (by July 2022).

Date for the advancement of an accreditation scheme for all developers (December 2023
