The CRU, working closely with System Operators, has recently progressed a number of
measures to support both medium term and short-term electricity supply and demand
balance, in light of unexpected generator outages and delays in the delivery of new gasfired generation capacity.
Some of these measures, such as the proposed decision on a direction on data centre
connections, are subject to public consultation while other measures are not. Given the
importance of these measures and in the interests of transparency and openness, the CRU
is today publishing a number of letters related to recent directions to EirGrid and GNI in
support of electricity security of supply.
The CRU will continue to engage with the system operators and the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications and other stakeholders on the transition to a secure, low-carbon future.
