CRU Decision on Additional Customer Protection Measures for Household Electricity and Gas Customers

Customer Protection Measures for Household Electricity and Gas Customers

The CRU has published a CRU Decision on Additional Customer Protection Measures for Household Electricity and Gas Customers.

This decision includes a suite of measures developed by CRU as part of its contribution to the National Energy Security Framework announced by the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications in April 2022 as a response to Ireland’s energy challenges following the war in Ukraine.

In total there are 15 new requirements. The full package of measures is to be implemented on a phased basis by suppliers and network operators between October and December 2022 and will remain in place subject to CRU review.

These requirements are in addition to the existing requirements in the Gas & Electricity Suppliers’ Handbook, with the aim of offering enhanced protection to customers facing higher energy prices.
