The CRU has today published an Information Paper on its approval of the Use of Capacity Revenues Statement submitted by EirGrid Interconnector DAC for the 2021 Calendar Year. This sets out the amount of capacity revenue collected from the East West Interconnector (EWIC) for the year, how these revenues were used, and verifies that the use of revenues complies with Article 19 of Regulation (EU) 2019/943.

The 2021 revenues have been used to service the capital costs of EWIC along with costs for its maintenance and operation.

The Interconnector provides valuable services to the Irish grid, including increased security of supply, voltage and frequency support, lower wholesale prices and reduced curtailment of renewable generation.
