The CRU has today, 13 August 2020, published a modification to the Criteria Document for the Regulation of Gas Installers in Ireland. This modification provides clarity to industry with regards to the scheme entry requirements for applicants with non-Irish qualifications. The European Recognition of Professional Qualifications Directive 2005/36/EC4, as amended by the Directive 2013/55/EU (‘the Directive’) obliges the CRU to put in place a system of recognition for the qualifications of people from all EEA Member States applying for registration to the RGI scheme. Under this recognition process, an Expert Panel assess each application against a criteria of learning outcomes, determine if identified gaps can be bridged and gives successful applicants a choice of either an assessment or an adaptation period.
